Industry 4.0: The State of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the UK
This presentation considers the latest developments, specifically in the UK with Industry 4.0. It also considers Industry 4.0 in the UK within the broader context of the APO International Conference ‘Industry 4.0 and the Future of Productivity.’ to be held in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China on 23-25th May 2017. There will also be perspectives from Germany, Japan, Republic of China, Republic of Korea at least.
Ron Young will present and discuss three key issues:
- Productivity from a UK perspective – from a global leader in 19C to a 21C knowledge driven future. He will compare the 1998 UK Government White Paper ‘UK Competitiveness in a Global Knowledge Driven Economy’ and subsequent Trade & Industry Committee reports and results, with the 2017 UK Government Industrial Strategy Green Paper, especially with reference to I4.0
- Industry 4.0 from a UK perspective – a status report on the application of Industry 4.0 technologies to knowledge lifecycle management, especially comparing human learning and knowledge creation to the latest developments in machine learning, AI, predictive analytics.
- The Future of Productivity – a global perspective, and the need for ‘Knowledge Productivity’. An update on the research conducted by Knowledge Associates, Asian Productivity Organisation and others, to increase individual, team and organisational productivity, applying knowledge asset management methodology, leading knowledge platforms, and I4.0 technologies.
This presentation will also provide new information and insights into the Panel Discussion to be held on Day 2 of the Conference – ‘Expanding the 4th Industrial Revolution in Asia: How should companies and governments prepare for this?’ with speakers from Germany, Japan, Republic of China, Republic of Korea, moderated by Ron Young.
