Government of Dubai and Dubai Police 4th Knowledge Forum 2018

It was a great privilege to be invited back to the Dubai Police and experience their significant knowledge management activities in action, from 7-11th May 2018, and to speak at the Government of Dubai and Dubai Police 4th Knowledge Forum.

It was actually 8th to 10th December 2014 that Colonel Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Knowledge Higher Committee, and his Senior Commanders, first worked intensively with Knowledge Associates to become accredited in our Knowledge Asset Management (KAM) methodology, at Kings College, Cambridge University, UK. “By searching for the best practices in terms of KM we found the Knowledge Asset Management (KAM) developed by Knowledge Associates in Cambridge, UK to be the best method that we can apply for our next step. As a result of applying the Knowledge Asset Management method we identified a lot of things that we missed in terms of KM . Therefore the Dubai police decided to fill all the gaps that were identified by applying the Knowledge Asset Management method”

Opening Speech

On behalf of His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lt. Col. Ibrahim Bin Saba Al Marri, Director of the Knowledge Management Center at Dubai Police, delivered the opening speech to the Conference on 9th May 2018. Said Lt. Col. Al – Marri ” by reference to the reality of the science of knowledge management in the UAE, and reflecting on the performance level of government agencies, we find that the performance of its institutions compete with major international institutions as a result of their interest in the assets, and the introduction of knowledge and excellence, which has produced a unique Emirati experience of its kind in this the field”.

Knowledge Assets Award

Naturally, Knowledge Associates are delighted that the Dubai Police Force launched their first ‘Knowledge Assets’ Awards at the Conference, with award presentations made by His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

Congratulations to all teams, with outstanding results in the ‘human knowledge assets’ category as follows:

1st Snipers, 2nd CID, 3rd IT, 4th Fighting Crime, 5th Maritime Rescue, 6th Security Inspectorate, 7th Port Receivers

SMART Police Station

The SMART Police Station is one of the worlds first that will not require human employees on site, with knowledge driven technology for communications, collaboration, learning and knowledge, for all the major public policing services. The Dubai Police Force are leaders in applying highly innovative technology, with an ambition to have 25% of the force consisting of robots working with human officers by 2030.

Dubai Police Headquarters

The current Headquarters visited is at Al-Towar on Al-Etihad Street. Walking in to the main control area reminded me of the Apollo Space Centre with huge interactive screens and data streams, highly specialised operators, and user calls answered in seconds. The new HQ will be in Deira with a ‘distinguished constructional conception’.

It was, indeed, a great experience to observe how Dubai Police are developing and applying their critical human, structural, relational and infrastructure knowledge assets for the 21st Century!

I wish to thank the Dubai Police for their great hospitality, special care, and a special event.
